Guides for 50-80 lb jigging rod

Hi again,

I'm preparing my first jigging rod. What we call "jigging" is fishing with 6 to 8 oz (in our case) lead fishes, with the boat stopped. I just tell it because I want to be sure we're talking about the same. There is no translation into Spanish and we ll in Spain use "jigging" word.

Well, in our area we can fish bluefin using jigging, but out of bluefin season we look for another species, ussually very near to the bottom. We sometimes hook big groupers. These fishes trend to go into their caves and then it's impossible to land them.

To avoid this situation, we sometimes use powerfull jigging rods and reels. The most powerful commercial rod I've found is for 50 lb and we've lost biggest fishes because we would need just a little more power.

I've some ideas regarding blanks but, the problem are guides. Guide sets I'd like to use (beginning from the one I'd like better) would be:

- AMTAC GZBZ series
- AMTAC BZCTR
- Fuji GLRLG
- Fuji HNSG
- AMTAC BZCSU

Which of these guide sets could "resist" these 80 lb braided lines? Are there other options?. I'd like them not to be all black color, if possible.

Thanks

Daniel

They really look great!

Check the BSUUG line under Rainshadow/Forecast in the left hand sponsor column. Tip with the BSULT. They have three differant models in this guide.

There is also the BSTLG line.

These will handle braided line just fine.

Daniel,
Check fishsticks4u.com .We have the forecast / baston guides .I like the BST LG on the stand-up rods ,and the BSULG on the boat rods. The web site details each guide and their use.
