I bought one of these in black to use for writing on blanks. I have experimented with it and ink seems to never dry. After an hour, I can still just smear it off with one pass.It does write good on the blank though. I'm just scared to use this for fear that when I go to epoxy over text, it will smear. Is it worth trying? Re: Penstix 0.5mm India ink pen for writing on blanks..

I use white india ink on black blanks sometimes and it dries fast yet can be erased with alcohol. You might try forced air and/or heat to aid drying of the ink. After it dries, with a light single stroke, apply a coat of CP to lock in the ink. It shouldn't smear when applying epoxy after that.

How about a fine point sharpie? I just don't like how this ink performs with this Penstix. I use NCP thread, why bother using a ink pen that is unstable that it needs CP?I can see a nightmare putting on epoxy and that ink begins to run or something. Try heating with a hair dryer? Don't know but it may dry it?? Lightly heat several times??? This drys my gel pens Re: Penstix 0.5mm India ink pen for writing on blanks..

Fred,
I write on blanks with acrylic paint from the local hobby shop. It is available in almost any color, it drys in 5 minutes, can be removed with a little alcohol and I put epoxy directly over it and it never smears. Re: Penstix 0.5mm India ink pen for writing on blanks..

I have been using India Inks and fine point drafting pens for putting inscriptions on rods for years. To eliminate any possibility of smearing I give it two light overcoats of hairspray ( lacquer )
It dries quickly but light coats are a must too much equals a mess. Re: Penstix 0.5mm India ink pen for writing on blanks..

I use gel pens for inscriptions and put a light coat of Krylon Workable Fixatif over it. The ink never smears. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
