Rod tip wrap repair

A friend of mine had the tip of his flyrod repaired. In doing so the manufacturer melted some of the finish on the wrap. Is there an easy fix to the finish? Or will the wrap need to be taken off and redone? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Steve. I would imagine that the finish is an epoxy. All epoxies can be sanded, preferably with a sanding block to keep things level. After going from say 400 to 600 grit, you can re-coat with a thin coat of epoxy. You can also buy one of the ladies 4 sided nail polishers and go through the successive grades. Be sure you don't leave any grit from the abrasives behind as it will sparkle under the new finish.
