I was wondering how many people have experienced reel seat failures. What technique(arbor type) and type of glue was used in the application? Re: Reel Seat Failure

I use the graphite arbors and use a 2 part epoxy with a cure time of 90 minutes. Have just got some Rod Bond, going to try that next to see how it goes. Re: Reel Seat Failure

The glue type, if it's epoxy anyway, would rarely be the fault of any such failure. What often and usually is, is improper surface prep of the pieces being joined.
Do take a few moments to read the online library article on proper surface preparation (water-break-free). ............ Re: Reel Seat Failure

The last Rodmaker magazine had a great idea for a tool to clean up and prepare the inside of the reel seat's surface, too!! Re: Reel Seat Failure

I use Kardol (similar to rod bond) and masking tape arbors. The epoxy paste cures very hard, have never had a failure. Some say I am going to have a reel seat failure due to the masking tape, began using masking tape for this purpose in the mid 80s, still waiting for one to fail.
