Has anybody tried a product made by U-40 Rod Building Products called "Cork Seal"? It is supposed to enhance the cork feel, toughen the cork, reduce chipping and degradation, and seal against dirt and oils. Is it worth using this product on my brand new premium cork handle? I use it on all of my cork handles. Just make sure to follow directions by putting on one good coat. Additional coats of the product do nothing for you. Re: Cork Handle Treatment

Mark. you might also want to consider Golden Pecan Miniwax. Enriches the color and seals the cork. I use 5 coats, the last 2 take 24 hours to dry. Some of the guys have posted pix. Re: Cork Handle Treatment

does minwax specifically "seal" cork, or is it the nature of any stain?

I found that the moisturizing cream for my soar hands (preventing blisters) is great for cleaning and keeping the cork handle clean. And, beyond this, when I decided to "wash" it with warm water and a bit of mild soap, it cleaned extremely fast and leaving no new "dark spots" to be seen.
No, I really do not know what is the "active ingredient" in the cream that causes this benefit or if it is the whole formulation. I do not know what will happen to the handle if treated repeatedely with this "system", neither. My experience, I hope I can keep You updated with it after a few more fishing trips!
