Date: February 16, 2005 03:21AM I just finished my first fly rod over the weekend and noticed that I had epoxied the reel seat with the locking ring in the down position. Don' t know if this is a big deal instead of having the loking ring go in the up position. It is for my own personal use, if not a big deal I will leave as such, just hate to take it apart and redoit for the ring to go in the right direction. Will post a pic this week. It doesn't necessarily hurt anything. It will still hold a reel and only changes the overall location by perhaps an inch or thereabouts. In fact, on longer rods it can actually make more sense to mount the seat in that direction. It puts the reel farther back towards the butt, helping to balance the rod a bit better.

Thanks Tom,
In fact it is a 9ft 4wt fly rod, so I guess this will help out with the balance of the rod. Fernando Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
