Hey guys, hopefully I'll be finishing my first rod the week. But I have a question, do I need to put anything on the cork? flexcote, etc...

Hello Jason
I would suggest you just go fishing with it. However if you want to put something on the cork grip do not use epoxy. There are a number of things that can be used and you could do a search on this board and read about them. One product Trondak U40 has that is used quite often is "Cork Seal". But again there are other ways also to finish cork grips. I think the most widely used approach is to do nothing to the cork but a good finish job of sanding. I beg to differ.
I don't like the cork seal. I thin out clear with thinners and just wipe it on ( thin coat ) with a paper towel or whatever, Thined out to soak in. Don't load it on. Try on a scrap cork Re: Flex cote/ cork
