I'm building a 6'3" spinning rod for bass & walleye. I was wondering if anybody uses snake guides for the last few guides. I have put both on digital scales & the snake guides are lighter. I guess my biggest concern is wrapping both ends of the snake guide as compared to one with a single foot guide, how will this affect the action? Re: Snake guides on a spinning rod

It won't affect the action but if the overall weight is more, then you lose some performance. If it's less, you would retain more performance.
I tend to think you won't like snake guides on that rod. But, I haven't tried it so please report back with your experience. Thanks. .......... Re: Snake guides on a spinning rod

I have and have used a Heddon 11' steel head spinning rod of which the last few guides are snake guides. Its a neat rod and the snakes don't bother the action at all. with its 11' length I was asked once if it was a converted fly rod.

I have a 10' Diawa noodle rod I have had for years, and it has 5 snakes on it. I have landed many salmon & steelhead on it, & I love it. Anyways, I finished this rod last night so I'm going to try it today if the water is not to hard! Thanks, and I will post the results. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
