I believe a much better choice would be from St. Croix as their musky blanks have the best reputation.
The SCII model is fairly priced for the performance and reliability backed by the domestic production right here in N. America by the company. The model in mind that is 6'6" ideally suited to a short bucktail blank is 2M66MHF. It would be just what you're looking for. We have these in stock and the other range of Musky St. Croix Blanks. Hello Ron
Take a look at the Rainshadows IMU786. It could be a good replacement depending on how fast the Berkley rod is. Perhaps Batsons will have one at the Charlotte show. I have not had a Musky on for many years since becoming a Salt Chuck fisherman. But I did a lot of Musky and Nothern Pike fishing growing up in Michigan.
