Is it better to cut and glue your EVA in block form then turn it on the lathe or round it off first then cut it and glue together (different colors)? Hope this makes sence.... Re: Turning EVA blocks

John,
I round the corners of mine off with an electric knife, then turn on Lamar mandrels in my hobby lathe. Hope this helps, Noel Re: Turning EVA blocks

It all depends what you are trying to do, which you didn't state. If you are cutting flat trim rings, it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you don't shape the grip too close - once you cut and re-glue, it almost never aligns perfectly and you will always have to re-sand a bit. If you are cutting angles, it's a whole lot accurate-er to do so when it's in block form.
You don't need to prefectly round the corners of the block - just slice the corners off & into an Octogonal shape with a serrated knife (cheap bread knifes are perfect). Re: Turning EVA blocks

Makes sense, I am doing angles so I'll cut and glue first. Thanks to all... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
