Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me with this question.

I have a rod that I am renovating and re-wrapping and have stripped the rings and wrappings but before I go any further I would like to remove the horrible blue painted(?) finish from the blank. Can someone please advise me of the easiest and safest way to do this without damaging the carbon fibre (graphite) blank?

I would like to leave the rod in a matt grey carbon finish - perhaps waxed, is this going to be OK or should I varnish the rod for more protection?

A tip I picked up here. Coat the blank with Strip-eeze and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then use fine steel wool to remove the paste and dissolved paint. May take a couple of runs. I recently took a very hard gloss black finish off a blank, so can attest that it works.

I dont know if the blue paint is on the whole rod or not, I'm assuming
its just above the handle area !

A little tip I picked up was using "Brasso" to rub off ugly graphics and
suchlike. By using cotton buds and gently rubbing it should remove
that paint. I have used it before with great success and it does not leave
any strach marks at all. I'm sure some of the Auto buffing liqiuds/compounds
would do the same thing, allthough I have not tried them !
