Gluing Cork Rings

This is in response to Dan Colville's thread because I have a question. I use Devcon 2-part for gluing rings but I was making checkerboard and ring inlays out of CustomGrip II and gluing them together with Weldwood contact cement. In the last year I've started to make inserts from burl and regular cork and found it a real pain to glue them together with epoxy so I tried the Weldwood and it's much easier and less mess. I was wondering if there could be any adverse effects from using Weldwood on cork. So far no problems but I only did a few rods with the burl inserts so far. Thanks!

i have use the weldwood plastic resin epoxy on all my cork handles, and i have not had any problems with any of them. It is a water based mix, but once dry, i have had a hard time breaking the connection between any of the rings and it resists a lot of other solvents. I don't beleive that there is any adverse effects that it has on cork as it is ment to glue woods together. I have also used it on a checkerboard pattern, it is much easier to work with in my opinion.
