I'm just starting a Dan Craft FT1007-4 that I'm thinking about setting up as a switch rod, but it's a first for me. For those of you that have done these, is this a good match? And if so, is there a rule of thumb for matching the correct weight spey line, short of begging the local fly shop to rig several spey lines up so I can try them? Re: Lining a switch rod

Wayne. Bob Meiser (sponsor) will know the answer to this one. As I understand it, the shorter speys and long belly weight forward lines are used for switch rods, as you may want to shoot line, rather than aerialize it all. Re: Lining a switch rod

Wayne,
I have a Aiflo Standard Delta Spey WF 10/11 F on my Dan Craft FT 10 ft - 10 wt switch rod and it works great! I haven't caught any fish with it yet but it will easily cast 100 ft and I am not an experienced spey caster. Below is a link to the Airflo spey lines. [www.rajeffsports.com] Bob Edited 1 time(s). I think Bob Meiser answered that question in a earlier post you can pick up with a search of his name. Hope this helps. Spencer Re: Lining a switch rod

Answered in A post? Try several - thanks for the tip, it answered several questions at once. Got to meet Bob Meiser a few years ago at an FFF conclave - not only a talented rod builder but one helluva nice guy as well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
