Hey guys...I watched a video in which the guy glues his cork rings with 5 minute epoxy. I have always used rod bond w/ great success. What do you guys use?

ROD BOND !! I'd be afraid of glue lines from not being able to get it clamped before the glue set up. Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

I used to use Rod Bond but the hardness of the bond line between rings was noticable. I switched to Titebond III and it solved the problem. Now my grips feel perfectly seamless. I cannot report on their longevity as yet but I take confidence in knowing that the Titebond III is used by some truly masterful builders. Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

Titebond. Also no reason to fool around with epoxy, especially with the expensive, overrated Rod Bond. Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

I keep looking for TiteBond III and can't find it (at Home Depot. Wal-Mart, etc.). Recently I've used TiteBond II (Home Depot has it). Any significant difference? Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

Rod Bond is not at all over-rated. It's great stuff and does certain things in rod building that no other adhesive can.
Titebond II is water resistant to the point that it can be used with confidence in most exterior applications. Titebond III is completely water proof and can even be used in underwater applications. I don't think Titebond II will let you down for use on a rod grip, but if you can find the III version it will completely alliviate any chance of problems with regard to water or moisture. ..... Tom,
Check at Lowe's. They have Titebond III. I've been using Titebond II and it seems to work well. When I run out, I'll use the III. Years ago, used Weldwood Plastic Resin Glue on wood and liked it. Haven't tried it yet on cork, but will. Stan Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

I use Titebond II, but have wondered about the urethane glues like Gorilla Glue. Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

Gorilla Glue is nasty stuff and will leave brown lines if you're not careful. You have to wet the rings first to make it set up.
I use Devcon 2-Ton epoxy. Never fails. Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

I have used a product called Crystal Clear Epoxy with great results for many years. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of this product is no longer selling it in small quantities, so I will probably switch to Rod Bond when my supply runs out. Re: what do you guys use to glue your cork rings?

Thanks, to all!! I was just getting ready to start my first rod from cork rings. Was thinking of Gorilla Glue. This board changed my mind. Was on my way to Lowes. They had both Titebond II and III. Thanks, Tom, I got the III. It is slightly more expensive than the II, but the III is totally water proof. (So the manufacture says).
Looking forward to my first Charotte Show. Thanks to all. Ed Smith Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
