I am planning my fourth fly rod. Want to build a 7 or 7 1/2 ft for a 4 wt line. Want a moderate to low cost blank. I built a larger forecast for my son and am happy with it. I was planning on a forecast blank for this project but then I ran across the tiger eye blanks. I do like the brown color.
Has anyone built on either or both of these blanks and can tell me how they compare? thanks, Greg Re: forecast or tiger eye blank?

I have not built on the Forecast blank yet, but have built on hundreds of the Tiger-Eye blanks, (actually I stock them , I go thru so many) I have had nothing but good comments on them, I have one customer that I have built several for, and he has called me on more than one occasion and told me that my rod cast as well as, if not better than his Loomis rods !!!!!!!!! The blanks are a moderately fast action blank.. I would say, give one a try.. see if it is for you...
Tight lines,,, Art Re: forecast or tiger eye blank?

Greg,
Tiger Eye & Forcast are both good blanks. I maybe wrong but I think Tiger Eye is a little bit higher modulas. But you would not go wrong with either blank. Bill - What's wrong with the 2005 Forcast?? I have not had a chance to build in one of them yet. Hank On The Rocks Fishing Wells, ME. Re: forecast or tiger eye blank?

Greg, I agree totally with Hank. I've built these rods using both blanks. You would be satisfied with either one. Tony Re: forecast or tiger eye blank?

Take a look at Hook and Hackle's 7 1/2' IM6 4wts. I think they are on sale right now and they are American made.
I have the H&H 2pc 7 1/2' 4wt and I love it. It's my go-to rod for dry flies in low water. Kevin Re: forecast or tiger eye blank?

I don't think Bill means the 2005's. These are the same as the 2004's. The 2003's had fit and finish issues. Re: forecast or tiger eye blank?

Except for a very slight kink in the tip, it is a nice looking blank. Mark Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
