REC Recoil snake guides and wraps

I just received some RSNX snake guides that I am putting on a sage Xi2 blank. The guide feet are flattened only a small ways up toward the uprights. Does this mean that you should only wrap this small part of the guide feet or do you extend the wraps up to near the uprights?

i like these guides but the length of the feet and the small flattened area is a problem for me. i think the feet are too long. but to answer your question you should wrap all the way up. you also need to dress the flattened area so it is sharpened to a knife edge. sometimes these guides won't sit straight up due to the narrow feet or the fact that they were not manfactured right. rec need to make the feet shorter i think.

Larry was correct to suggest that you carefully deburr the guide feet. This material must be very difficult to fabricate. I start the wrap only a few turns before the foot, and wrap as far up the guide as needed for a strong wrap. On an 8 weight I wrap the tip section guides 5/16"
