premade rod bags

i'm in need of a rod bag for a 9 foot, four piece fly rod, probably a few more of various sizes in the coming months. i've made one myself and it came out surprisingly well, but i think i'd like to forgo that process this time. my temple fork outfitters professional rod came with a nice dark brown, almost suede/velvety material, trimmed with black, slick insides. do any of the sponsors at this site offer anything like that? i'd like to stay away from tan which is what i've encountered a few times online. what other options can people recommend from our list to the left? thanks.

Versitex sells what looks to be a fairly nice rod "sock" at reasonable prices. I haven't personally seen one, but have been considering purchasing one for a retirement rod I am working on for a good friend.

Are you also going to put this rod in a tube(case)? If the answer is "yes" why bother with a bag. I buy rod cases that have seperate sleeves for each rod section. They're come in several different colors, have a handle that can be moved and they're quite a bit less than buying a bag and metal tube. They also make the rod-reel combo cases, which I like a lot, having once forgot my reel at home after drving about 60 miles to go fishing!

They're not a sponsor, but I plan to work on them about that. Email me if you want the info.

thanks gerry and joe. for this rod and the next 2 probably, i am using metal tubes with a nice wrinkled finish for a more classic fly tube look (got a good deal too), and so the incorporated dividers wouldn't work, but in the future i think i would use those.

i searched (after i posted my request) and found a thread or two talking about the same. if anyone has any other leads, please feel free to reply. thanks again.

Eric:

We carry REC bags as well as a new line of very elegant bags designed by Rocky Mountain. Our website doesn't launch until Feb 4th or I'd send you there to view them, but if you email me I'd be happy to send you a jpg or two.

Warmly,

John
