I just posted a pic on the photo page of a tool i acquired with an inheritance of other rod building and fly tying tools, equip and supplies. I've been at it now for a few months learning rod building and this looks like a weaver tool maybe but i have no clue if thats right nor how to use it....anyone?

It's the Inlay jig Clemens used to sell. You can make checkerboard patterns. Place a length of grip, line up the lines on both teh disks. Take a hacksaw, exacto saw, slice lengthwise, keeping the blade inside teh slots on each side of the jig. Repeat with another color. Glue up these pieces in alternating colors, to form a circle with contact cement. Place new grip on a manderl/spare blank, slice even thickness rings. Now re-glue buy offset teh rings so it forms a checlkerbord.

Here are examples of what you can do, if you look around the Photo Page, you'll find a few other guys who have done this in cork & wood

Posted the answer on the photo board. PVC is half of a J. J.'s Jig for cork, and the other is a jig for EVA. Originally sold by Clemens Tackle.

Steven
Your photo appears to be two jigs for cutting cork checkerboard inlays. The plastic sleeve is a JJ's jig for cutting out inlays from individual cork rings. The other apparatus is a Clemens inlay jig for cutting out inlays from cylinders of cork or eva. I believe you can find full instructions in Clemens' Advanced Custom Rod Building.
