Renzetti Lathe?

It's a great rod wrapper, but it's not necessary unless you're going to build a lot of saltwater rods with lots of underwraps. Starting out simple with a hand wrapper is the best way to start I think.
Many of us have been building rods for many years by hand.
Spend the money on the important stuff first, components and fit & finish are more important when you start out. You'll get better, faster I believe by doing things by hand.

If you can afford it, and plan to be in this for the long haul, then the Renzette and the Custom Power Wrap are probably the two most capable units on the market today.
