I just built my first fly rod and I think I am hooked. I recently found this forum and I have learned much already. I am really interested in the Temple Fork Outfitter rods. Does anyone know if they are going to be selling blanks in the near future?

Their blanks are made overseas - we're not talking about high end blanks, although no one will refute that they work and get the job done. But you can do much, much better blankwise.

As Eric said, when I talked to them at a sportsman show last year, they have a hard enough time keeping up with production requirements, till that slows down they have no interest in selling blanks.

Kurt,
I have personally dialogued with the V.P. of the company about helping them set up a blank program and doing distribution for them. It's not that they are not interested in selling blanks, he told me that Temple Fork definately sees the benefit in having a blank program. It is however a multifaceted problem and a daunting task to set up a blank program and do it RIGHT! Especially with a product manufactured overseas. I think there is a possibility you'll see Temple Fork blanks available sometime in the next 18-24 months, but I am just speculating.
I still say stick with a good American made blank like AllStar, St. Croix, Dan Craft, Burkheimer or one of the other great sponsors of this board. I know everyone raves about the overseas stuff, but the truth is that the materials and quality control is marginal at best compared to a good quality American made blank.
