What is the best and clearest finish to use?
I have used Dura Gloss LS Supreme and I have a problem with the cracking around the edge of the guide feet. I grind the feet to make a smooth transition to the underwrap. Am I doing anything wrong? I was thinking of changing to Aftcote. Also I noticed that when I fish in the rain that there are milky spots where the rain water was. Any idea what causes this prolem? When the rod dries up from the rain water the milky spots disappear. I have the milky spot problem when I used Dura Gloss LS Supreme. Re: Finishes

So far my favorite finish is Klass Kote epoxy paint, which applies like a varnish. But it is a paint, not like the other epoxies. Re: Finishes

I wouldn't bet on it, but I would guess that somehow moisture is getting in and causing the spots as they go away when it dries out. Check the tunnel at the base of the guides.
I don't THINK that cracking has anything to do with the finish that you use since it is caused by the blank flexing at a different rate than the guide foot. I would try taking more off when doing the guide prep. The slope should be very gradual and fairly thin at the front. Mike Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
