When doing the marbling, does the rpm on the drying motor affect the pattern or the way the pigments spread out? Will it be better to use a 3rpm vs a 30 rpm which is what I normally use.

If you do the marbling while it's turning, I think it does.
If you marble it with a foot control or by hand and then, after it starts to set up, put it in the rotator, I don't think it makes any difference.
I think the biggest thing is getting used to the finish you're using and time when to start adding the second color in to the mix. Each finish has it's own little quirks that need to be explored and figured out (and I think temperature is a factor, too). I'm looking at the temperature part of this closer, now. More on that on down the line a bit...

Putter

I'm with Putter!! I hand turn at first until it pretty much sets up. I use LS High Build and let it set for about 10-15 minutes before I start to apply. A lot also depends on the effect you are after.

Putter's are more a worl of art (beautiful work) and has very distinct patterns, so I would think that he prbably let's his set up more than mine. Mine are more muted (lack of artistic sense) and are blended more.
I have several different speed motors, but prefer the slower one for marbling as I THINK that the centrifugal force from a faster motor would affect the pattern.
