Clemens Radial Pattern

I just got a copy of Dale Clemens "New Advanced Custom Rod Building" today and on the third page of color plates, there's a photograph of a "Radial Pattern." Unfortunately, the book doesn't give any instruction on how to do it. He must have assumed that anyone could figure it out since it looks relatively simple. Does anyone have some instructions for this?

Thanks

My guess is that you pick a point on the blank as the center where all teh threads will cross over. Mark a whole bunch of axis's on either side of the centerine, say 1 inch away. Make believe you mark the blank like a clock face. On one side you wrap a thread from 6:00, all the way around the blank to the other side 6:00. Then 5:00, all teh way around to 7:00. 4:00 to 8:00, 3 to 9, 2 to 10, 1 to 11, etc until you get all the way around the blank.

That's a guess.

If you use the NCP thread alignment system I outlined in the book, "Rod Building Guide," you need only spiral the alignment thread around the blank and your centers will then follow whatever path the alignment thread is on.
