On fly rods is there a better tip to use, a ceramic or a wire top. I don't see many ceramic tops used even on the most expensive rods. I don't know why but the cermaic top looks better to me...but will it give as good of casting results. Does line wts. make any difference. Re: Ceramic /wire top??

I like the ceramic tops because they are usually a lot lighter than the wire loop tops. One reason you don't see them much is they are pretty expensive. Re: Ceramic /wire top??

The tip guide and the flyline have the most opportunity for wear and abrasion than any other line and guide position. The best way to minimize this wear and increase the life of your line and tip guide is to use a ceramic guide at this location.
