Havent built one of these in awhile, but need to now for someone. Rod is a Calstar RT30 and Im putting an Aftco Unibutt (19.75") on it. Going to put a foam foregrip on it and was wondering if 10" or 12" is the common size for this set up. Rod will be used for Dolphin etc and isnt "stand up" style, just standard trolling style. Thanks for any help you can give. Re: Foregrip Size for Trolling Rod

If you can get the owner of the rod and have him place a say a broom handle, scrap blank, and hold it as if he is pulling in a fish, you can mark where his hand ( for the foregrip ) sits, then have him act like he is reeling in a fish to find out where the reel will be. Now you know the measurements of the seat and foregrip and just measure from the bottom Re: Foregrip Size for Trolling Rod
