New Forecast blanks?

All,

I was browsing around the Hook and Hackle website, and saw something interesting. It calls out the forecast blanks as "Fast" action and 34,000,000 modulous. My experience (albiet limited) with forecast blanks is they are moderate action, and listed as 33 mil modulous.

So, Are these new blanks? I am thinking so, because H&H seems to be listing the next/new (more expensive) versions of the Rainshadow line... RX7+, RX8+ etc...

Any one out there know the deal? I would love a source of cheaper fast action rods. Please enlighten me.

Barret

Barrett , if you are looking at H&H site you should consider the H&H line of blanks as an option. I have built a ton of them , and for the $ they are nice fast rods . They can be had in 3 colors I believe . Check out the kit prices also , you can get a tube , bag , and all of the components for a great price . Everyone that I've built one for was happy with the rods, a couple bought a second , different wt. I also fish with 2 of them , a 9' 3wt , and a 9' 9wt. John

The 2004/2005 Forecast Fly blanks are what we call a Mod/Fast action and come in the Dark Blue. We have had great success with these new blanks and will be adding a few new models to this series. We also have many other blanks under the Forecast label from Mag Bass to Salmon/Steelhead and many others and are available in Clear Gloss finish. These are all the RX6 Graphite ( 33 Million Modulas ). Please feel free to contact us for our New blank catalog that will explain all of this.
If anyone ever has any questions in regards to our programs please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for all of the support. These are exciting times for Batson Enterprises and the Industry as a whole.

Barret: I suggest that you state what rods are "fast action" to you. It gives us a benchmark for comparison. The term "action" has different meanings to different people. Plus through in a modifier like fast, medium, or slow, and I can't tell what anybody really means.

Bill,

As the term action has been hi-jacked to some extent by the advertising copywriters, to the extent that most fly fishermen that I speak to seem to relate it to recovery speed rather than the taper and point of initial flex, can you describe the action of the Forecast fly rod blanks without using 'speed' terms.

Just so that I can get a clear idea of the blanks action, how would describe them in terms of Tip, Middle and Butt.

i.e. Would they be tip actioned, tip to middle, middle to tip, middle ...... etc.

Dave.
