IMO you will be fine, as most will reccomend, I'd use rodbond and follow the procedure in the FAQ's.

You can stretch the EVA a lot farther than that. Read the EVA installation procedure on the FAQs page and you'll have no trouble.

thanx for the help. i put it together with good results.

i used a twist i have not seen on this board before that has worked for me with hypalon and seems to be good with the eva.

i use alcahol as a lube, no glue. slide the grip down and add a shot or two, spin it to get the inside wet all around and lift up just a bit so some runs down the blank. work fast, slide it home with one smooth motion. you will have 20 or 30 seconds to make the final adjustment. the eva dries in a few minutes, hypalon takes a few hours. it does not move.

When my father built rods 15+ years ago that's about how they did all their EVA handles. When i was telling him about my nasty experience w/ 5 minute epoxy that prompted me to finally try Rod Bond (a life saver) he said wow, we didn't use any glue at all. They just sprayed WD-40 inside the grip and on the blank. They did mostly trolling rods so the butt diameter was always at least 30% larger than the grip inside diameter so once they got it slid down and it dried it never moved. I stil have one of his original rods and that grip won't budge an inch.

I'm still sold on rodbond but obviously that works.
