Does anybody make nylon thread smaller than size A? I build bamboo rods and I've only used nylon a few times on refinish jobs that had it originally, kinda like working with it, but I would like to get it in a smaller diameter. john Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon

John, I don't think anyone is making nylon in smaller than 2/0 except as fly tying thread and all that stuff I've looked at has been prewaxed and just don't think it would do for wraps. Darrell Lee sent me some 2/0 I needed for a rod that was originally wrapped with nylon and I believe Anglers Workshop carries a selection of nylon in 2/0. There must be some others, but it does seem that most just carry "A". I have noticed that the 2/0 nylon I have is bigger than the 2/0 silk for some reason. Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon

Thanks John! Sorry about the double post, the original didn't come up when I reloaded the page, so I posted again. I'll check with Anglers and try it out. It's so easy to work with after using silk that I'm thinking of using it on my own rods. john Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon

John, I just looked in the AW catalog and don't see 2/0 nylon anymore, don't remember the last time I got thread from them. I did find it listed in a Clemens catalog I have and a fair selection of colors. I looked in my drawers of thread, of the hundreds of spools, there are only 3 left of 2/0 nylon! It is nice to work and I wish it was available in fine sizes. Easier for those little 4 thread tipping wraps anyway with my arthritic hands. I'm doing a rod now I just made and it's going to have about 3 dozen of those things, but I'm using silk. Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon

Are "00" & 2/0 the same? Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon

John, Custom Tackle lists Gudebrod 00 nylon in a good selection of colors. The older Gudebrod nylon 00 seems like it's a smaller diameter and a tighter twist than the new stuff however. Winston Binney Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon

John; I checked my Anglers catalogue after your post this a.m. and they only showed A and D. I like the looks of silk because of the fine diameter, it makes nylon look like rope, but nylon is so much easier to deal with. Pearsalls Naples is pretty good, but it only comes on those itty bitty spools for about twice the money as a 200 meter spool of 3/0 silk that I think it would drive the overhead up pretty quick. Winston mentioned Custom Tackle, I'll give them a look see. Thanks john Re: 2/0 or 3/0 nylon
