Having just fitted a reel seat to a blank I have noticed a chip in the glosss on same, does anyone have any suggestions for repairing the chip. The reel seat is a Pacbay wood insert.
Thanks Owen Re: Blemish in reel seat

Two ways come to mind
Sand with 600 wet dry paper till the chip is smooth. Then coat with permagloss. You could also try to put a drop or two in the chip of permagloss. Fill the chip.Let dry overnight. Sand with 600 and coat all of it with permagloss Re: Blemish in reel seat

Bill's suggestion works well. Putting a small amount in the chip is a good way to go. I have used it many times. I want to share a few things from my experience to help you. 1. Try to use only as much as needed to fill the chip. 2. Start with at least 400 grit wet dry emory paper after you have let the permagloss in the chip cure for at least 24 hours. 3. Then go to work at getting a water break free surface prep on the rest of the insert. 4. Use as thin a coat of permagloss as you can put on to start with as it will show any uneveness in surfaces in the area of the chip. Which you can burnish off with some 600 grip emory paper. 5. Remember in all of this to go slow and when in doubt use a finer grip paper. It is always easier to go to a larger grit but can be much harder to go to a finer grit. Hope this helps Merry Christmas and hope to see you in Charlotte. Joe Kassuba Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
