Hello all -
Anyone out there tried laminated, stabilized wood for seats or handles? If so, I'm interested in any comments about quality, suppliers etc vs. solid stabilized wood. Thanks!! Re: Laminated STabilized Wood

The advantage of the laminated stock is to provide a stiffer stock, more resistance to warping. You see this used quite a bit on gunstocks now.
But for the purposes involved in making reel seat inserts, the only difference is really cosmetic. The laminated pieces have that "striped" look, it that sort of thing catches your eye. ........... Re: Laminated STabilized Wood

I have not used laminated wood on poles, but I have built knives using it and I cannot see any problems with drilling, reaming, shaping, finishing. A large solid block of stabilized laminated wood is no different than any wood, but finish it turning, not by hand in your lap or on a bench, or you may run into ripples, due to harder or softer layers, picture driftwood.
