reel seat vs. reel, whats the deal

Is there a relationship between the saltwater aluminum reel seats number (1-4) and a corresponding reel foot width and length. I have a 2 and a 4, thay are not the same. Is there standard for all reels, like if I have a rapala sxi30 or 40 or even, dare I say it, 50, the foot is no different. But a big penn ocean trolling reel has a different length, width and shape. and you can bolt a cool keeper to it so its extra stout! Where are the options for us creek guys? Am I not important to the industry? Do I not buy things from the very industry that denies me the array of choices open to my richer, more handsome bluewater brothers in arms? I make poles, dont make me make reels too. I want cooler reels in exotic materials! And I want to know what fits what, before I buy. Hear me, and tremble as I shake my puny fists at the uncaring sky!

Levi,
No need to flip a biscuit, there are all kinds of pretty reelseats for your rods, and you came to the right place to find them. Gatti and Lakeland both make aluminum seats (Mudhole). REC makes a variety of fancy spinning reelseats. Custom skeleton reelseats can be had from Andy Dear at Lamar Reelseats or Les at Inserts by Les (20 to 30 different kinds of wood). Pac Bay has different colored graphite insert skeleton reelseats. American Tackle makes the new Matrix reelseats. Anglers Workshop had Brown, green or graphite grey skeleton reelseats.

16, 17, and 18 mm reelseats will all fit your spinning reels well. I find the 17mm and 18 mm reelseat are more comfortable to fish with, blank diameter is not important to me unless the blank has a larger diameter than the reelseat's ID.
