Could any one out there tell me what is the best material to use when filling the pits on a cork handle. I have heard of two different methods One is using cork dust the other is wood filler. Which method works best and which method looks the best. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ,Jon Neeley

Jon I have not had good luck in filling my cork's pits and holes. But there has been some discussion about it on this board in the past few weeks. If you do a search on the board archives you can probably uncover a ton of info. As I recall the wood filler seems to be getting good reviews.

TRY SEVERAL DIFFERENT WOOD FILLERS, SEE IF YOU FIND ONE YOU LIKE. SOMETHING WITH A GOLDENOAK TONE, OR I WILL USE GOLDENOAK STAIN ON THE GRIP AFTER SANDING. THE LOOK IS A BIT DARK, BUT IT IS CLOSE TOO THE LOOK IF YOU USE A CORK SEALER. A LIGHT SANDING AFTER STAINING WILL LIGHTEN IT UP SOME. GOOD LUCK, CORK TODAY IS OF POOR QUALITY.

I use DAP Plastic Wood in Golden Oak color. It's a tiny bit lighter than most of my cork, but quite acceptable. I bought it at Home Depot for a couple of bucks, and a can will last a VERY long time. It does set up pretty fast, so you have to work quickly.

Jon
I have used both meathods mention by Steve and Jim. I have also had good luck with cork dust mixed with a good furniture glue, don't use any with glue
