I'm trying to locate the home page for the Jarmac tool company. They have a nice small lathe for hobbiests and it looks like it might make a good cork turning lathe. Very unique but I can't find anyone who sells it and can't fine a website for the manufacturer. Does anyone have this info?? Re: information on lathe please

Thank you but they are just a trade magazine and do not actually sell the lathe. Re: information on lathe please

Of note, that was from a web search on 'Jarmac lathe'. The same search gave results indicating that many items sold by this company are of very low quality. I think you would be better off saving for a better lathe or building a wood lathe using a drill.

If you are interested in an inexpensive lathe for cork, here is a very popular one with builders.
[www.grizzly.com] It is drill powered and even with the 1/2" drill from Grizzley it's about $75 Here is a link to a picture of mine [www.fishingphotos.net] You can just do a search om this site for grizzly and you will get a ton of info/opinions Mike :) Edited 1 time(s). Myles: The bed is 3 feet, useable bed length a bit over 2 feet. The short length is not a problem, since this lathe is designed to be used with mandrels. It is actually an advantage in that it contributes to its light weight and portability. Also note that the approx. $75 cost mentioned above includes the electric drill it is used with; that drill quickly detaches for use as a standard electric drill. Re: information on lathe please

Myles,
While I was downstairs measuring it, Tom beat me to the punch! The nice thing is that it is light weight but strong (about 10 lbs) I have it mounted on a board with a handle and carry it outside to work. I also purchased an extra Headstock piece (where the drill fits and I inserted a ATV wheel bearing in it so that I can replace the Tailstock with it and do cork/EVA right on the blank if I want. I just use masking tape on the blank where it will be in the bearing so it is a good fit. Works pretty good [www.fishingphotos.net] Mike Re: information on lathe please

Thanks Tom and Mike,
I was thinking of getting one posted downunder, limitted to 36" in box length with USPS. Fedex etc makes it not worth it, as I can get a Jet down here for $249 Aud. Now got to do my sums but think the Jet is looking pretty good. Thanks Myles Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
