"Foot Wrapping Length" article in latest R/M mag

I liked the article on Foot Wrapping Length on page 28 of the latest RodMaker magazine but I have a question. I can't tell if a double foot or single foot guide is featured, but how would this work when using the Forhan locking wrap on a single foot guide? It would seem to me that you couldn't put the first set of blocking wraps on until the guide foot started to lift off the blank a bit and then that would put the locking wraps up onto the ramp towards the eye. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

The guide you see there is an NSG type double footed casting guide - the leg/foot you see is the single side. With a pure single footed guide you put your first blocking wrap just behind the farthest point you see on that NSG foot. Then you'd proceed with the locking wraps. But you are correct - that first blocking wrap couldn't be made until the foot/leg has just started to rise from the blank. You might get a better look at that in the online library in the article on the Forhan wrap. And, I might need to illustrate this in a close-up side view in a future issue. Good question. I'm glad somebody brought it up.
