Does anyone have a recommendation on what size Single foot ceramic guides to use on a 9' 5wt. fly rod. I've never used them before and don't know what sizes would be appropriate. I'm using a size 12 and a size 10 double foot stripping guides by the way. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays. Re: Single foot ceramic guides for a 9' 5wt. Fly rod

I think you will find you only really need one stipper. I only use one #12 DF stripper then a #8 sf and the balance #6 sf on 4,5,and 6 wt fly rods. Tape them on good with blue masking tape and then go out in the yard and make a few test casts and adjust the spacing if required. Re: Single foot ceramic guides for a 9' 5wt. Fly rod

Thanks for the input. One stripping guide it is. What is a size 8 bridge guide? I'm new to rod building and have only built three rods.
Thanks again for the advise. Re: Single foot ceramic guides for a 9' 5wt. Fly rod

I wouldn't use a bridge guide, I don't think there is a benefit to it. Hope I am explaining this correctly, take a double foot low frame guide and cut of the side with the single foot and single leg coming of the bottom of the guide and you have a bridge guide.
