Has anyone tried to spiral wrap a telescoping flipping stick?

You bet, nothing is different except the stripping guide has to be positioned so that it doesn't strike the rod butt in the retracted position. Some also add a thread wrap inside at the point where the blank just is coming out of the butt, while retracted, to act as a bearing surface for the loose blank to ride against in the butt. They do rattle a bit in the rod box, or strapped down on the deck.

I would add a set of alignment dots to help in aligning the rod for use as you will not be able to just sight down the guides as easily. Other than that no real difference.
