Good Morning.....
I am in the process of rewrapping a saltwater rod with Stuart Roller Guides and this has been a learning experience. At present, I have three guides wrapped, and was looking at them last night and I noticed the No.4 guide is smaller than the No.3 guide. This is my first experience wrapping roller guides and I am thinking is this incorrect ?? Where they packaged/numbered incorrectly when they were shipped..?? I am thinking there should be a gradual decline in guide sizes like any normal guide going toward the rod tip... So far I have wrapped the No.5...No.4 and No.3 guide... I would appreciate any input.... MaryLou Re: Stuart Roller Guides

The Stuart guides run from SR5 or D1 for double roller down to A4 or SR1. You can go by the marking on the roller, but it will be backwards from what you started. The 5 is the double roller. You need to follow it with the A1 and work towards the tip to the A4.
If you set them side by side on a table, you'll see the height is different for each number. Lower rollers towards the tip, higher ones towards the double, so yes you did start them out in reverse. The 5 should be good so you'll only have to change the 4 and 3 with a 1 and 2. Jeff Re: Stuart Roller Guides

Actually, the only waste would be the thread. Just cut off, reposition the guides, and learn something new. When you order these guides, you need to know how the distributor or dealer lists them. Some list them as A1 and some will list the same guide as SRG4 (the taller of the guides), and of course the A4 or SRG1 has the least hieght.
