I have been offered a Horrocks Ibbotson, 'Thunderbird Supreme', Scotchply 3MCoy Epoxy, Fibre Glass Fly Rod, #1458, 8'long and in mint condition.
I am curious as to whether this rod is regarded as collectable and also how well it was regarded, relevant to other similar rods of it's era. I would also like to know when it might have been built. John Hepburn Re: Horrocks Ibbitson FG rod

I can tell you that H-I built bamboo rods before fiberglass technology, so I would guess that this rod was built in the fifties at the latest. H-I operated in Utica. New York. Most H-I rods were built for mass consumption, and weren't high-end equipment. But you could do an internet search and get a lot more info than this. Re: Horrocks Ibbitson FG rod

the fact that it is a 3m scotchply blank means it is a better and lighter grade of glass than the earliest trevarno glass rods. i don't know if it is collectible but you may find it to be a nice fishable rod. phillipson used 3m scotchply glass in their later rods and they were very nice casting rods. you will find that if you visit the website previously mentioned that someone may know about this rod. as to value it all depends on how much someone wants it. in mint condition some glass rod enthusiast may be interested.
