Thanks for all the help, guys, with your help and reading the instructions, I'm sure I will end up with a pretty nice finished product when I'm done.
I want you fellows to know, this site and all it's members have been a god-send to me in getting these two rods done correctly and in time to give to my two grown sons for Christmas. I am going to try to post pics of them and get some feed-back, good or not so good, from anyone who cares to do so. ANY advise on them will really be appreciated.

It is a good site but remember, nobody here is a member. This is the kind of place where everybody is welcome and there is no cost to participate. Sort of like a public drinking fountain only it works and it's sanitary.

Fred,
If they are for your two sons and you built them, they will love them regardless of how they look, I guaaaraaanteee it. Are you going to put their names on them with something like "from dad"?

Emory is dead on-those kids will treasure them forever!!

Brian is right on, too-everyone is welcome except those who can't be civil (sanitary-I liked that, Brian :>) )!!

Emory: I gave that some thought, but was running short of time, and didn't want to risk yet another delay because I scr---d up on something else. Still might be a possibility I suppose, it would add a little extra to the finished product.

Fred,
It is very easy to do and only takes a couple of minutes with acrylic paint and a dip pen from your local hobby store. If you screw up the printing or writing it comes off very easily with some alcohol on a cloth. About an hour to let it get good and dry cover it with epoxy just like you do the threads.
If you want you can match the color of paint used to the wrap or trim color.
