Pac Bay Tradition Thread Colors

I just got a Pac Bay Tradition fly rod blank and am currently testing Garnet, Candy Apple Red and brownish metallic Gudebrod thread on the blank, no CP. I don't know the number of the last one because it was obliterated by my thread tension device, might be 9541. Does anyone have any thread color suggestions for these blanks? The guides will be TiCH.

Thanks

I built a PB Tradition Spinner and I used Gudebrod Cobalt Blue with Gudebrod Goldenrod for the trim bands and inlays. I reversed the two for the butt wrap, where I did a diamond wrap using the goldenrod as the primary color and the cobalt for the accent. It looks real good.

Oh, yeah. I used CP on the thread.

I, too, have been using blue colors on this rod (at customer requests). Built five of the Traditions this year; customers chose a blue color each time???

Jim,
Which Rice thread, the opaque or the not?

Fran and Putter,
Thanks for the suggestions, I don't think I would have ever tried blue. I have a very old spool of Gudebrod, no number on it, but it looks like cobalt and the spool says "OO". Mean anything to anyone? It appears that it might be smaller than "A".

Gerry

I have several 50 yard spools of various Gudebrod threads in size 00. It is smaller than A; I've been using it lately with the newer Amtak hologram and blue guides- the tip tops on these come in a tube size of 5.0 as the smallest :>( (are you listening Amtak???) I use the 00 thread to put 2 short spacer wraps under these tip-tops so that the glue goes in between and around the two wraps as they hold the tip top centered on the rod blank. Size A is sometimes too large for this job.

This might sound a little extreme, but I just built a tradition spinning rod with these colors. I used a mettalic Ice Blue with a metalic Aquamarine trim. They contrast the blank perfectly and they look awesome. I did a buttwrap with the same colors, only in the middle i put some of that mettalic silver HT Braid. That looks pretty cool too. I would post some pictures, but the rod is already gone.
