If you can find out at least what colors the owner likes, you can put them into the rod on the wraps, guide ring color, but wraps?? Re: Poll: When the customer has no preference

Bill, Did that. He doesn't care. I asked if he'd like it to match his truck or boat. He doesn't care. I showed him my thread library. He said "Do what you think I'll like". I'm probably gonna use my go-tos, garnet and silver to match his boat or black and gold to match his truck. Half jokingly, I asked if he wanted his name on the rod. He said "Whatever you think". Now I know how my wife feels when she asks me what I want for dinner and I tell her "Anything.. whatever you feel like making". lol. It's maddening. He's a bass pro and knows rods and owns a lot of high dollar off the rack stuff. He just wants a better performing rod that looks just as good. But since he doesn't have a preference, I'm gonna throw him a curve (pun) and spiral wrap it for him. Re: Poll: When the customer has no preference

He'll love the spiral and whatever else you do with this rod, Mick. My only problem with these projects are that I put nearly twice as much of my time into them. But I tend to rationalize it by thinking that this is a learning process and they just gave me the chance to learn something by trying something different that I've wanted to get after for a while... Randy, I feel sort of the same way. Jobs like this give me an opportunity to do stuff that other people haven't asked for and stuff I would like to do but isn't my personal style so I haven't done on my own rods. A chance for me to put the great ideas I see on the photo pages to use! A chance to keep things like weaves or stars/t-bird butt wraps honed. Things I don't do too much of these days. The downside is that I have until spring to get one of them done, which means I have months to be anal about it. No pressure equals bad news for me! LOL Re: Poll: When the customer has no preference

I guess I gotta quote Clinton on that one, Mick: "I feel your pain." Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
