Two piece spinning rod

During test casting and guide placement via static distribution test does the ferrule need to be wrapped on 2 piece graphite spinning rods?

To be safe, yes. Not saying you'll break one if you don't, but it only takes a minute and is probably wise.

I don't mean to stretch the point made by Tom, but by all means wrap the ferrule before you put any stress on the rod. It has to be done anyway and might avert a problem. It does not have to be finished and could be re-wrapped later but it will certainly prevent a possible crack. This would be especially true on a fly rod.
