Few years ago a friend of mine built a trolling and crankbait casting rod for me. It was made of a 8', white colored (!) Lamiglas GLASS blank. Looks a bit strange , but I love the tough but smooth action of this baby and use it for casting but mainly trolling for pike with mid size to large crankbaits. Now another friend asked me for a similar blank, but I cannot find any.Looked up the Lamiglas website and aso All Star. Maybe I found a right blank at Lamiglas: MB 965 M. Does anybody know this blank or something else for my purpose? WANTED: 8' Glass Blank, Line: 30-40lbs, lure wt. 2-3lbs or more Thanks in advance UWE Re: WANTED: Glass Trolling rod ?

The limited info I have in my old Lamiglas catalogs show that the blank you mentioned was not produced in white. What size tip top is on the rod? That would help narrow it down. A 30 lb blank that is 8 ft long and was produced in white was the BT 96 3M a boat trolling blank, it had a size 8 tip. The MB 96 5M had a size 11 tip, the MB 96 3M which was produced in white had a tip size of 6.5. The BT blank was considerably thinner also a little over 3/4" at the butt, the MB 96 5M & 3M was closer to 1". So if the exposed blank ( not knowing your setup) is closer to 1/2" than 3/4" than I'd lean toward the BT. Hope I've helped some. Re: WANTED: Glass Trolling rod ?

Thank you for your support. My old blank seems to be a BT . But do you know the MB 96 5M personally, I mean could it be a good equivalent to my old one, maybe a little heavier? Re: WANTED: Glass Trolling rod ?

Not that particular blank, the ones I have used were pretty laid back in action, but weren't rated anywhere near your choice in lure weight. Your MB weighs 10 1/2 oz and has a lure weight of 3 to 5 oz. The BT is 8 oz. No lure weight mentioned. Any way you look at it there's 31% more glass in the MB. How it affects it I'm not sure. Todd Vivian or one of the sales staff at Lamiglas could help you, you can e mail from their site, lamiglas.com. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
