Feather/grip question

I'm thinking (which in itself is a feat!) about inlaying a feather right up the blank extending on to a wood grip. My question is on the finish. Would you do the whole grip with epxoy (LS)?? If so, what is the downside, if any? I also am using some thin cork & colored EVA trim rings in the grip. I usually use Tru Oil but I know that it discolors some colors of EVA. I was thinking of putting a coat of epoxy fimish on the entire grip. Is that faesible or is retirement addling my brain? Mike Re: Feather/grip question

I was coating my handles with thinned clear. But find if your hand goes on to use it, ( to me ) it is slippery. You could, just coat a little beyond the feather so as not to cover the complete handle. I also am going to put clear on handles, thined out like water with mid temp thinners, let it soak in a minute or so, then take off most of it with a brush. I find this leaves the handle cork with a kind of a ruff finish that I like better and think would be better for grip Re: Feather/grip question

Maybe you could end the finish/oil at the point of a trim ring just past the feather, Mike?? Not sure how it would look over all, though... Putter Re: Feather/grip question

I think the finish will crack between the rod and the foregrip. It happen on a rod I built by putting the finish on the butt wrap, across the winding check and on to a wooden foregrip. The rod flexed right in front of the foregrip and cracked the finish. A wooden foregrip will not flex. I recoated and fix the cracks and it cracked again on the first cast. I built the same set up on another rod and stopped the finish on the butt wrap and did not coat the check or grip and had no cracks.
