guides and marble

Well I'm building my second rod with the fuji concept system. My question/problem is that when purchasing the guides I wasn't paying attention and I think I got casting guides instead of spinning. They are lower guides than I used on my first rod anyway. Is it possible to still be able to use these guides or do I need to get a new set. After doing a static test they seem to work ok but the first guide is a loooong way from the reel. Somewhere in the 27" range. Also I was wanting to do a red and white marble on the rod. Is this possible or will I just wind up with red and pink?
Thanks
Paul

Read the New Guide Concept Set-Up on the library page here - it will direct you on how to determine the proper size. 27 inches from the spool of a spinning reel is much too far away unless this is a very large surf type rod.

I often mix and match guide types and styles to get the desired line path. As long as you keep the frame and ring materials similar, everything will look fine and work extremely well.

You can get red swirls in your marble pattern but you'll want to let the epoxy set just a bit so that when you introduce the red, it remains distinct. If you add it too soon, when the epoxy is still very liquid, and you swirl it enough, you will indeed blend it to the point of making things "pink."

Put the first guid at around 22'....red and white will work...its thin epoxy that gets you pink.
