Ken, The Forhan Locking Wrap is a wrap used on single foot guides. The purpose is to "lock" the guide into the wrap so that if (or when) the guide snags or catches on something, it won't pull out of the wrap. It is simply a concept used to help secure single foot guides. Wrap the guide as usual until the thread reaches the leg (as opposed to the foot) of the guide. Then, as the thread approaches the guide it wraps around the leg of the guide instead of the circumfrence of the rod and guide foot. The thread completes a circle around the leg and then comes back to the blank. Then wrap the thread around the blank until it reaches the guide leg again. Then another 360 turn of thread around the leg. Rich Forhan suggested that these steps be repeated 3 times. A total of 3 revolutions of thread are on the guide leg. He describes the method in greater detail (and certainly more clearly) in RodMaker Magazine Volume 4, Issue #6. Hope this made sense, nick Re: Forhan locking wrap

Get the issue and the one preceeding it for the Locking wrap and the equal angle spacing guide. IMHO it is must reading for anyone who wraps rods. Actually, just subscribe and you won't miss anything. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
