I'm interested in using this method to decorate a rod I'm working on. I've experimented a little with some of the info I've found on the web and from some great advice from a fellow rod builder friend of mine. Just thought I would send a note out and see if there is something I should be watching for, not to do, good color combos, etc. Any help would be great. Thanks much! Re: Marble Technique

Good article from Mike Barkley I think in the last issue of Rodmaker. It's not hard to do. Just mix up some epoxy, pour out a little bit into as many cups or dollops as you need for the number of colors you want and blend in a few drops of color pigment from the bottom of the jars of Testors paint. Apply your base color to the blank, wait a few minutes then swirl in the other colors. On this site's photo page there is a really good example from Randy Parpart (putter) of how far you can go with this. I think he and Mike will be in Charlotte to demo this. Re: Marble Technique

Thanks William. That's kind of what I figured...it's mostly trial and error to get the pattern one desires. I hope to post a picture or two when I get the rod finished. I've watched this site in the last few weeks and think I've found a great place for some timely information. Thanks again for your reply and Happy Holidays! Larry Re: Marble Technique

The longer you wait before adding additional colors, the more distinct your patterns will be. The sooner you add them, the more marbled and "looser" they will be. .......... Re: Marble Technique

The library above has a darned good article by Mike Barkley; all good info here, too. Tom is dead on. Different finishes have different properties and they really show up with the marble jobs. Each one requires different times of the waiting period; some have very, very little and you can get right after it with them. Be sure and post pics!! Putter Re: Marble Technique
