What's the best way to cut fiber glass for making plugs and sheaths on repairs?Thanks.

I like those little EXACTO hobby saws that have about 30-40+ teeth to the inch. Michael's and other arts & crafts stores have them. ~ $8. You may find it helpful to place masking tape on either side of the circle of the cut. This will help guide the blade, and reduce any splintering or marring of the surrounding finish if the saw should slip before you get much of a groove going. Use a fine file or fine paper to smooth edges. -Cliff Hall-

Cliff hit the nail on the head. His method is the best that I have used and I started building rods on glass blanks. Just barely leave space for the saw blade to fit between the two bands of tape. Don't cut straight through but saw a little bit around the blank at a time.

I've used a Knife file or a Tri-file also . Be sure to cut around the blank, and use tape as a guide and splinter preventer.

I mark it the same and cut it with my Dremel with a cut off blade.

Cut off wheel and Dremel works fast and perfectly for me on either graphite or fiberglass. Before I got my Dremel, I used a small triangular file to cut blanks, or the edge of a larger bastard file. All work well but the Dremel method is just too easy and fast for me to use any other method now.

I have used the above mentioned methods for cutting both graphite and fiberglass with good results from all. As memtioned earlier. I alwaways tape off my cutting area. to elimenate splinters. Good Wraps Bob
