I cut the end-wrap thread by mistake about 1/4" into the wrapping/trimming process. I've taped it down and applied a snug band of tape at the end of the wrap (butting up against the inside of the end wrap). Will this be enough to maintain tension, or should I apply CP to the wrap as well before attempting to re-do the end wrap? I'll be using CP over the entire wrap eventually. ReWrap

I would just cut loose the with the thread and rewrap. For the amount of thread 'wasted' it's just as easy to start over. Rich Solyrich Custom Rods Re: ReWrap

I probably wasn't very clear with my description (panic). I was doing the end wrap on a closed butt-wrap. I was trimming the loose ends and cut the wrapping thread by mistake. I tried to keep everything tight, but it was a losing battle. Fortunately I was able to start a new end wrap about 1 centimeter into my butt wrap (covering half of a pattern), and when it reached the failed wrap I unwrapped it and continued. When I did the end wrap at the other end, I extended it to be the same length as the first and all is OK. Re: ReWrap

There may have been another way to save all of it. If you ever do it again, make a narrow temporary tie-off wrap just ahead of the ruined one. Remove the ruined one, but be careful to tape the thread ends down before you remove it so the wrap itself doesn't shift. Now make a new tie-off wrap as intended. When you are finished with it, remove the temporary "emergency" wrap you made earlier. ........................... Re: ReWrap

That probably would have worked better. There wasn't enough tension with the tape to hold it all in place. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
