Guys, found this site today while seeking help on repairing a reel seat. I have a telescoping rod that has a stripped out Fuji reel seat. Can it be repaired and if so how? Thanks, DG Re: Repairing reel seat

The seat is probably done for and would need to be replaced. You can do it yourself if you have some info or experience in rod building, or you can look at www.tackleworks.org and try to find someone in your area that performs this sort of repair. I have never heard of an actual Fuji seat becoming "stripped out". Are sure it's a genuine Fuji, or a look-alike? If you decide to do it yourself, you can remove the components from the seat and the butt grip and replace them from there. You will have to do some shimming of the forward edge of the new grip probably. Let us know if you need more specifics. ............... Re: Repairing reel seat

Dale if you do a search of this board you will find plenty of info on removing the seat and as Tom pointed out since you will be working from the butt end of the rod when you ream out the cork there will be a gap under the cork near the reel seat, generally speaking the best gap filer is thread, you should also be aware that in removing a reel seat thers is always the possibility of damaging the blank use care if you choose to do it yourself John Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
